In Cape Town’s colourful De Waterkant area, cottages in every colour of the rainbow nestle against the slopes of the Lion’s Head and roof-top terraces abound. De Waterkant Townhouse 55 is located in a quiet residential street just around the corner from the area’s lively cafes and restaurants, galleries and shops.

De Waterkant 55 is a charming townhouse in a row of terraced houses. On the ground floor is the sitting and dining area plus kitchen. A twin bedded room en-suite is located at the rear of this level. Upstairs is a second living area, a double bedroom en-suite and a roof terrace balcony with outdoor furniture.

Through the main door you step into the elegantly styled open plan lounge which is furnished with a large cream leather sofa, red ottoman and armchair round a modular coffee table. Tall lamps on side tables frame the large central artwork. Here you can enjoy your favourite programmes on the satellite TV and dvd which are housed in a console.  The window is shuttered and opens onto the street outside. A large ornate mirror adds to the character of the room. 

The dining area is tastefully furnished with an elegant table and six chairs, it is neatly situated beyond the lounge and leads to the well-appointed kitchen. Appliances include an oven and hob, a free-standing fridge-freezer and microwave, a washing machine, dishwasher and tumble drier. 

Walk down the airy corridor next to the kitchen to reach the smaller of the two bedrooms in this townhouse. One side of this corridor is a glass wall with a large plant feature supplying a splash of green. In the bedroom there are twin beds and a TV where guests can enjoy their favourite programmes. A ceiling fan cools the air in summer and heated towel rails supply luxury warm towels in winter. A small window overlooking the natural grass slopes of Signal Hill lets in plenty of light.

Plenty of room is supplied for your guest’s clothes in the stylish fitted wardrobe space next to the separate bathroom. This tiled bathroom includes a shower, bath, basin, hair dryer and toilet.  

A staircase leads up to the compact, airy upstairs level of this townhouse, where the master bedroom, a second sitting room and bathroom are situated. The sitting area opens onto a lovely roof terrace balcony overlooking the colourful street below and a glimpse of the city. It is furnished with a wooden patio table and chairs and there is a sun-lounger where you can soak up the sun.

From this upstairs lounge area you walk through to the master bedroom which has an attractive angled loft roof and two windows letting in plenty of light. Walk through the contemporary dressing area, with large make-up mirror ,hair dryer and table to the right and storage space to the left. There is plenty of room to hang clothes. The bedroom has air conditioning and a heated towel rail with fluffy warm towels. Lie back in the large double bed and watch the satellite TV. A sliding glass door opens to the en-suite bathroom which is stylishly designed and fitted with a shower, basin and toilet.

Parking for this property is on the street or guests may leave their cars in the secure indoor public parking (payment required) in the nearby Cape Living Piazza.
